Education for All
Canadian Perspective
Within Canada, the issue of education is seemingly nonexistent. As our education systems have advanced to the point of mandatory enrollment until the age of 18, the problem of illiteracy and numeracy has decreased exponentially. Canada contributes greatly through programs such as UNICEF and the Red Cross in order to aid in the creation of schools where otherwise there would be none, and also to help students to enroll.
There are many poverish countries that do not put a strong emphasis on education. Children are turning towards weapons instead of books, and the lack of education can cause problems to the individual and the surrounding population. Education has proved to beat poverty, promote gender equality, reduces child mortality, contribute to improved maternal health, helps combat HIV, malaria, and other preventable diseases, encourages environmental sustainability, and helps global development. With these benefits to education, countries have to prioritize this issue in order to promote a positive development.
Education is a colossal problem worldwide. So many people, either directly or indirectly related to education, are constantly putting money into education in order to solve many of the problems associated with it. There needs to be more organizations that devote conferences to gather the world's leaders in order to educate them in order to solve the issue of education. Developing countries that face this problem need to stabilize their economy, in order to dedicate some of their funds into building schools and hiring teachers.
Reaction/Reflection
As Canadian citizens, we are entitled to our free education up to the point of graduation, and furthermore, if one chooses to pursue a post secondary education, Canada is home of many world renowned universities internationally recognized. Education is the singlemost vital aspect of a society and without it, civilization would crumble. We are extremely grateful to have the education options that we do within Canada.
